A friend and neighbor wanted two gifts for her elderly Dad for what she new could possibly be his last birthday. One was a hot air balloon ride, that he always dreamed of taking and the other, an oil painting of his country farm house. The Dad fell ill while I was working on his painting and we all knew that he was too weak to make the balloon ride so I suggested that we include it in the painting. Later I learned that he had asked his nurse to hang the piece in his hospital room, where he could see it and where it remained until he died, hopefully filling the void left from that one last adventure that he was too sick to go on.
